Strategic choices and operational organisation, ethics and innovation, alternative fuels and our commitment as a BCorp. In a recent interview our CEO Matteo Lorenzo De Campo discussed several issues with the magazine Report Trasporti&Logistica: here are some of the topics, an assessment of our commitment to sustainability and a business model based on shared ethics.
Benefit corporation and BCorp
Maganetti is the first European BCorp in the world of logistics and transport, a certification that testifies the commitment to a business model that reflects our values, De Campo said. «It’s an ethical model and it confirms our idea: if everyone did business considering the economy as a driving force to create sustainable and widespread value, instead of concentration and exploitation, the system would benefit more than it does from those who do business cultivating only their own personal gain. The economic analysis of BCorp is summed up in this: transforming companies into opportunities for our communities».
The way we organised the activity with our transporters is a good example of this goal: the truckers work with us «through a modern network agreement, built on two cornerstones, the development of these companies and a fair and sustainable assignment of work».
Core business and new projects
In the interview with Bianca Raimondi, De Campo recalled the main steps in the development of Gruppo Maganetti: the core business has always been industrial road transport (including customs formalities), but the company has gradually added new projects, to keep offering customers an effective and complete service.
That’s why Maganetti offers logistics and storage services tailored on the needs of our customers and is working on new solutions as well. «In several cases we're operating as a general contractor - De Campo explained - so as to unite and organise the whole logistics supply chain, both traditional and intermodal, ensuring a efficient and sustainable system, fully compliant with laws and regulations».
Bio-LNG and other paths for the future
The interview also touched on the topic of decarbonisation and environmental sustainability, of course. De Campo has recalled our project to switch to bio-LNG and the certifications Maganetti obtained, emphasizing that the company is keeping up-to-date with technology, «monitoring all the innovations in this field», from the electric truck to testing the use of HVO instead of diesel for our carriers. There's a point we need to keep in mind, he concluded: bio-LNG «is an excellent answer from a scientific standpoint, because it’s made from animal waste that could be harmful for the environment».
