Full load, zero emissions. On Monday we unveiled the new Levissima E-Truck, a fully electric VOLVO FM truck that joins our San Pellegrino transport fleet. Another step forward on the path to decarbonize the activities of Maganetti, together with Levissima and Volvo Trucks Italy.
The launch of the first electric truck of Levissima and Maganetti was an important moment of our partnership and we celebrated it together: the unveiling in Cepina was attended by the sustainability director of the San Pellegrino Group Fabiana Marchini, our CEO Matteo Lorenzo De Campo, the director of the Levissima plant in Cepina Filippo Cesari, the commercial director of Volvo Trucks Italia Claudio Gallerani and the mayor of Valdisotto Alessandro Pedrini.
The first E-Truck has been in service for a few days and is giving excellent results in terms of performance and functionality. The truck is working mainly in Valtellina, transporting water from the Cepina plant to the logistics hub in Bassa Valtellina: this E-truck transports 33 Levissima pallets, without CO2 emissions along the way. At the logistics hub, the pallets are moved onto our LNG-powered trucks, which carry water to destinations outside the province.
In this way, the environmental impact of transport in the San Pellegrino group is significantly reduced compared to the use of diesel trucks. There’s more. the E-Truck is obviously less noisy than trucks with internal-combustion engines and is equipped with the most advanced safety systems available. In short: less carbon dioxide and greenhouse gasses, less noise, more safety.
The VOLVO FM has a 450 kWh battery system that allows it to travel over 300 km at full load. Taking advantage of the difference in altitude between Cepina and the logistics hub in Bassa Valtellina, the vehicle is able to partially recharge the batteries. We have organized the routes in order to recharge the batteries at our headquarters, using the energy produced by our photovoltaic system. A virtuous integrated cycle that reduces emissions and brings us another step closer to the goal of completely decarbonising our services.
