The number of Benefit corporations in Italy is constantly growing: as of September 30 they reached a total of 3,371 companies, with over 183,000 employees and a production value of almost 43 billion. These data are collected and analysed by the Chamber of Commerce of Taranto and we’re happy to see these increasing numbers: we’ve been on this journey for a long time and we’re glad to see other companies take on this new business model.
We’re the first Benefit corporation in our industry, a significant step we took alongside the BCorp Certification: it’s a solid and precise commitment in the present and for the future. We’re aware that the intrinsic quality of the transport service is fundamental, but the paths that lead us to this quality goal are equally crucial.
The certifications of environmental and social sustainability are an answer to this idea: that’s why we’ve chosen to become a Benefit corporation, including in our articles of association the aim of having a positive impact on society and the biosphere, in addition to the “classical” corporate purposes of generating financial returns.
In our case, this commitment takes the form of clear, ambitious objectives: reducing emissions by introducing new technologies, using advanced biofuels (bioLNG), complying with corporate and sectoral standards, and promoting stakeholder participation in business processes. With these goals, we work to achieve our original purpose in a sustainable way: to ensure the quality and efficiency of transport. Progress and growth for us are goals to build simultaneously in the economic, social and environmental fields.
